Cho's 96th Birthday Celebration
Grand
Masters Lam Cho, the living legend of Hung Gar, celebrated his 96'th
birthday on Wednesday 15th February 2006.Hundreds of guests, family,
friends and Hung Gar practitioners from all corners of the world joined
Grand Master Lam Cho to celebrate his birthday at the Grand Lord Sea Food
Restaurant located in Prince Edward/Hong Kong.
As in previous years an overwhelming number of
guests joined the birthday party to convey their best wishes and pay
their respects to Grand Master Lam Cho.The international flavor of this
years birthday party was evident from the hundreds of Hung Gar
practitioners and students from nations such as; China,Hong Kong,
England, USA, Canada, Czech Republic, Brazil, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan
etc.
The entire floor of the Grand Lord Sea Food
restaurant was booked of for this truly enjoyable and memorable night. A
remarkable display of Lion Dance marked the beginning of this years
birthday celebration. The whole restaurant was filled with the sounds of
the drum, gong and cymbals as the guests enjoyed the lion dance
performances. After the opening Lion Dance performance, Hung Gar
students, grand students and practitioners taking part in the
performances joined Grand Master Lam Cho and his immediate family to take
group photos.
The photo
session was followed by the eagerly awaited gung fu performances. The
next couple of hours of the night was packed with gung fu demonstrations
by Hung Gar sifus, practitioners, students and grand students from around
the world. The gung fu demo kicked of with the inspiring performances by
the future generations of Hung Ga. Nervous and excited yet full of energy
and talent the younger generation of our gung fu family performed variety
of hand/weapon and 2 men sets. Following the youngsters performance, one
by one everyone displayed their hard earned skills by performing wide
range of hand, weapon and two men sets. As far as hung gar demonstrations
would go, grand masters birthday party is the place to be to see some of
the best hung gar demonstrations anybody would hope to see. With great
concentration, precision, power and strength, students and sifus
performed many different Hung Gar forms, including; Lau Gar Kue, Jing
Jeung, Gung Gee Fook Fu Kuen, Dai Pa, Kwan Do, Fu Hok Seung Ying Kuen,
Sup Ying Kuen, Kuan Lan Gim, Pek Kwa Darn Do, Mui Fa Seung Long Do, Fu
Hok Doy Cha, and much more.
As in the
previous years, the main highlight of the performances and eagerly
awaited demos included breathtaking performances by grand master Lam
Cho's sons, Lam Chun Fai and Lam Chun Sing. The spectators were thrilled
with the amazing accuracy, speed and skillfulness displayed by grand
masters sons.
The night continued with the birthday feast. Everyone settled down to
enjoy the delicious food and delicacies served by the Grand Lord Sea Food
restaurant. The birthday party concluded with grand master thanking every
guest personally for joining him at his 96th birthday.
