LAM CHUN FAI SIFU'S HONG KONG SEMINARS 2004
Grand Master Lam Chun Fai, the son of Hung Gar Grand Master Lam
Cho, recently completed a highly successful one day seminar at his home
city of Hong Kong.
The seminar was held at a local sport center located in North Point/Hong
Kong. Like the seminars in 2003, this years seminar had a big turn out of
hung gar instructors and students from many different countries around
the world including; USA, Germany, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, England,
Czech Republic and of course Hong Kong.
Some of the Hung Gar schools which took part in
the seminars were; George Kikes 's Lam Family Tiger & Crane School
(USA), Massimo Innaccone's Italian Academy Hung Gar Kung Fu (Italy),
Andreas Garski's German Hung Gar Kung Fu Association (Germany), Jesse
Gooding's Lam Family Hung Kuen School (Canada), Pavel Adámek Kung Fu
School (Czech Republic) .
The 2004 Hong Kong Seminar took place on Monday 9th of February
2004. The focus of this seminar was on Hung Gar 2 men Sparring form
"Gung Gee Doy Chaak" and Hung Gar empty hand forms Gung Gee
Fook Fu Kuen and Lau Gar Kuen.The seminar was divided into two sections;
the first half of the seminar was focused on the empty hand forms and the
second half was on the 2 men Sparring form "Gung Gee Doy
Chaak".
During the first half of this seminar, Lam Chun
Fai sifu begun by teaching the entire "Lau Gar Kuen" step by
step, explaining each movement and making corrections as the day
progressed. Once every participant had a firm grasp of this set, the
seminar continued on with Lam Chun Fai sifu teaching "Gung Gee Fook
Fu Kuen", one of the pillar forms of Hung Gar kung fu. Lam Chun Fai
sifu thoroughly explaned each posture, ensuring each and everyone of the
students had a good understanding of this important form.
After going through these two hand forms, the seminar proceeded
with the fighting application of the techniques and their usage. The
participants had the opportunity to ask Lam Chun Fai sifu questions on
specific movements found in the forms, their usage as well as the
underlying principles of these 2 hand forms.
The second half of the seminar was even more
rewarding and interesting for the participants. During the second half,
Grand Master Lam Chun Fai begun teaching the Gung Gee 2 men Sparring
form. The students paired up in two's and carefully followed Lam Chun Fa
sifus instructions as he went through this 2 men set step by step. Lam
sifu personaly checked each student in pairs, made corrections and
explained some of the important principals and aspects of the Gung Gee
two men Sparing form.
Towards the end of
the seminar, Lam Chun Fai sifu demonstrated the fighting application of
this famed set and answered the students questions. The seminar concluded
with all the participants taking group and individual photos with
Granadmaster Lam Chun Fai .
After the seminar everyone joined Grandmaster
Lam Chun Fai for a great banquet of delicious chinese food. The entire
day was full of learning, discipline and fun which continued late into
the evening. Overall the 2004 Hong Kong seminar seminar was
a great sucess and an unfergotable experience for all.
