The First World Traditional Wushu Festival
2004 - ZhengZhou,China
The First World Wushu Festival, organized by
the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) and the Chinese Wushu
Association was held in Zhengzhou,
capital of Henan Province
in central China.
The first and biggest of its kind, this international festival which took
place from 16 october 2004 to 21 October 2004 saw 152 delegations with
around 2,500 contenders from 62 countries, competing in four different
categories.
Grandmaster Lam Chun Fai's Hung Gar school was
invited to take part in this big event to represent his family style and
the city of Hong Kong.
The team for Lam Chun Fai Hung Gar Schools consisted of Grandmaster Lam
himself along with 10 of his students and grand students from number of
different countries including USA,
Germany,
Italy,
Canada,
Czech Republic
and France.
Representing his family style of Hung Kuen,
Grandmaster Lam Chun Fai with his team of 10 contenders, competed in 18
single and one dual event. Competing against more than 2,500 contenders,
each and every single member of the Lam Chun Fai Hung Gar team won a
medal in their category, bringing back home 13 Gold medals, 6 Silver
medals and 1 bronze. Grandmaster Lam Chun Fai himself also took part in
two separate events and won a gold medal in each event. Overall, The
First World Wushu Festival was a great success for Lam Chun Fai Hung Gar
